CLEVELAND, OHIO — March 21, 2014 — Marketplace Events, North America's largest home show producer, announced today it has purchased the Renovation Show in Edmonton, AB from Young Marketing Services Inc. The show is held annually in January at the Edmonton EXPO Centre at Northlands. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. This will be the company's second annual show operating in the Edmonton market. They also operate the Edmonton Home + Garden Show, which runs this month, March 20-23, in the same facility.
This latest expansion for Marketplace Events comes just 17 days after announcing the purchase of two home shows in Raleigh, NC from American Consumer Shows (ACS) and one month after announcing the launch of the NOLA Home Show in New Orleans in January 2015. In October of last year the company also celebrated the successful launch of the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) in Orlando, and the August 2013 acquisition of three home shows in Kansas City from Pat Riha Productions.
The new Edmonton Renovation Show, which will run January 23-25, 2015, expands the company's footprint in the Western Canadian region where they already produce two shows in Calgary, AB and two shows in Vancouver, BC. The acquisition brings the Marketplace Events portfolio to a current total of 38 home shows in 22 different markets, including 11 home shows in Canada and 27 in the US.
"Our shows in Western Canada have been the fastest growing in our portfolio in recent years, and thus we have been extremely aggressive about expansion in this region," said Tom Baugh, CEO of Marketplace Events. "Edmonton is a fantastic consumer show market and we couldn't be happier about producing a second quality show at Northlands."
